Hi @all
Dale Yarker has pointed out that from time to time the "unread posts sign", a black disc, re-appears, although there are no new postings in the affected subforums.
Has anyone else noticed this strange phenomenon?
Cheers,
Albert

I have not seen it in my daily visits.

I've seen this. I think this happens when you do not visit routinely. When you change the date range in the sub forum to show a longer time period you will see the new post. Specifically, I believe that the date of the new post happens to be older then the date range displayed when you click on a sub-forum link.
Not sure of the actual date ranges configured but using this as an example...
New post was made 8 days ago Forum listing only shows posts for the last week by default.

Looking a little closer, it appears that default view is "from today" so if someone posts at night and you come in the morning, you've already passed the window of availability.
If I understand this correctly... if you go here on your own profile...

Change
Forum Display Options -> Default Thread View from
Show threads from last day to
Show threads from last 5 days (or some other setting to suit you).
There may also be a global admin change for all users (i.e., board default setting) but don't know this forum software. Either way, the setting I suggested DOES work.

Kurt and George – thanks for joining in!
As far as I can tell this option "Show threads from last ... days" is just the way to limit the number of threads shown on the page, but not the notifying system using the black disc.
But I have never seen the phenomenon Dale is experiencing – the re-appearing black discs without any new content.

I have SEEN the black disk issue where there is no new content when I have clicked the link.
I had to change view from today to multiple days and I see missing new threads. It's usually something that came in the day before.

After closing the page and then reopening, the dot disappeared.
Not sure what will happen on a refresh.
