In other threads there is talk about finding a replacement, which there ain't. There is also talk about purchasing powerbasic; which one or both and to what end? Is there anyone here capable enough in ASM to take it to the next level?
The immediate objectives as agreed by the newly formed committee are:
• To support the continued use of the PowerBASIC programming language.
• To maintain an Internet Discussion Forum (“User Forum”) for users of the PowerBASIC programming language
I personally see the longer term goals as:
- To establish the best way to make the history of the old forum available online (something akin to an online version of Gary's gbThreads?)
- To explore the possibility of obtaining the source / rights to the PowerBASIC compilers and the viability of enhancing them either via "open source" or by a team of volunteers..

PB has done me well over the years so more than willing to contribute to the costs of setting up an online forum and any potential buyout of the source code.

I don’t understand because this is a forum graciously provided for PB orphans. Possibly, “https://forum.it-berater.org/,” also. What would another forum do?
There can’t be any new PB users, can’t register.
Building an alternative compiler doesn’t require the added expense of trying to purchase the rights to PB. What are you going to do with it? The code is messed up.

But the DNS entry for the subdomain "forum" is still missing.
Another thought: Could it be that the owner is keeping the domain for a potential buyer? Might be good news for us.

Didn't WHOIS say the owner was PowerBASIC Tools LLC before? Or did my brain make that up? I wish I had written down the domain server, etc. to see if that changed.
