" You can participate through your browser.  You also don't need a camera."

Good, having never heard of Zoom before; and always taping paper over the laptops' camera.

I will sit in and listen, I don't think I can contribute much aside from a financial contribution, but certainly I can offer hope and encouragement. I'll be at wife's work, I do production meetings every Monday morning at 8:00am EST, I'll try to keep it short and hope I can jump on at 9.

Zoom has been around since 2013.   It's competitor, MS Teams, came out in 2016 and as usual MS bundled it to stifle the competition.
Zoom is still the best at what it does.

Google Ai says about the main players in the field:
Zoom is best for superior video conferencing quality and dedicated virtual meetings, Slack excels at real-time messaging, integrations, and customization, while Microsoft Teams is a comprehensive, all-in-one platform for organizations heavily invested in the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, offering robust security and integration within that suite. Your best choice depends on whether your priority is video, communication, or an integrated productivity suite

I hate it when I have to use Teams because that's what a client organisation uses. It's OK if everyone in the meeting is all the the same organisation with corporate MS365, but it can be a PITA for an outsider to join their meeting. Sad

Ah, looked MS Teams up. It's the rename after downgrading Skype to crap.
(I used Skye to call the wife (payed Skype to phone) from Iraq and Afghanistan 2008 to 2013. Microsoft bought in 2011, usability started decreasing in 2012.)

What the Powerbasic users and owners are doing hwew is very admirable.  Many are still making a living or partial living from programs developed with Powerbasic, and others just for a hobby, but unless are new sales of Powerbasic even in its present state there will be no new younger developers.  Anyone who knows Adam D. needs to remind him that a promise was made to Vivian they they would carry on with Bob's good work.  I'm sure that the present owners would gladly sell the rights cheaply as there is mo present commercial value, and pretty sure all there Tax code software has been converted to another language.

These are my thoughts and only intended for a good cause.

Nice idea, but where have you been? Adam has zero, nada, nothing, zilch to do with PowerBASIC anymore. His last activity on PB Forum was April.

Your confidence in the present owners is sadly misplaced.
To clarify:
Adam didn't buy PowerBASIC himself, he was the agent when the rights to PowerBASIC were bought by his family company, Drake Software. Adam continued development of it until 2024.  Unfortunately, Drake Software was  sold to a large company who merged Drake Software with another company as Taxwell.  Taxwell took over the ownership of PowerBASIC, Adam was moved elsewhere and lost any say in what happened to it.  Based on numerous attempts by various people to contact them, Taxwell apparently has no interest in doing anything with it (including selling it).

Hence our current efforts to keep it alive for current users, even if it will see no further development.

"...  all their Tax code software has been converted to another language."

Probably a BB (Buy and Bury) operation they learned from Microsoft (among others). PB got bought up with the tax software. ((I'd be surprised if anything got converted. (customer list would not have been buried)))

RE: The Future - Steven Pringels - 22.09.2025

One may be able to buy the source code of PowerBasic from that tax software company for very cheap, if they can get in touch with somebody that cares and manages the operations. Perhaps even visiting them if they are close by?

I simply don't have time to participate.
